BMO Harris $300 Checking Bonus
The Offer: $300 bonus for opening a new BMO checking account and completing requirements. Offer expires February 3, 2025.
Eligibility:
- Nationwide.
- Offer is not available to existing BMO personal checking customers (including trustees and signers on joint accounts), or those who have closed a BMO personal checking account within the past 12 months.
Step 1: Open a new BMO Smart Money Checking or Smart Advantage Checking account. Can be opened online from the offer page, or in person / over the phone with promo code obtained through email by registering on the promotional offer page and clicking “Send My Promo Code” (link below).
Step 2: Set up and receive qualifying direct deposits totaling $4000 or more within 90 days from account opening.
Step 3: A $300 bonus will be deposited to your account approximately 100 days from account opening. Account must be open, in good standing, and have a balance greater than $0 when the cash bonus is paid.
Summary & Links
The Good:
-Reasonable DD requirements.
-No MSF on the “Smart Advantage Checking” account when enrolled in paperless statements.Â
-Nationwide offer.
The Bad:
-The $300 bonus is lower than other promotions we’ve seen in the past. Unknown if / when the elevated offers will come back.
-EATF of $50 if account is closed within 90 days.
Overall: There was a $500 bonus option with higher DD requirements last year but that has expired. Since the cool-off period is only 12 months, the new $300 bonus with no MSFs may be worth doing for now.
