If you file after February 28, 2026, the cost of TurboTax goes back to regular pricing, which is based on your tax situation. The cut off time to file is 11:59pm ET on February 28, 2026.
Do I have to upgrade if I have a complex tax situation?
We might ask you to upgrade, but we’ll waive the fee as long as you file on the app by February 28. However, if you don’t file by February 28, the price of the upgrade will apply. This applies to our paid Standard, Deluxe, and Premium products, which are typically required for more complex tax situations. This includes situations like: Itemized deductions claimed on Schedule A, like charitable contributions, medical expenses, mortgage interest and state and local tax deductions Unemployment income reported on a 1099-GBusiness or 1099-NEC income (often reported by those who are self-employed, gig workers or freelancers) Stock sales (including crypto investments) Income from rental property or property salesCredits, deductions and income reported on other forms or schedules
What if I don’t end up filing my taxes using the app?
You’re eligible for this offer when you start and file your taxes in the TurboTax or Credit Karma mobile app by February 28. If you switch to doing your taxes using a web browser instead of the app, we’ll show you a reminder that you must file in the app to redeem the offer. If you choose not to file in the app, the cost of TurboTax will go back to regular pricing, which is based on your tax situation.
Can I still file for free without taking the offer?

What if I did file with TurboTax last year?
This offer is only available to taxpayers who didn’t file with us last year. Keep in mind, if you filed with us the year before last, but not last year, you’re still eligible for this offer. If you don’t meet this eligibility requirement and try to create a new user account to try to claim this offer, this offer will not apply. Please log out, then sign in using the same credentials you used last year.
