WINGS CREDIT UNION $400 CHECKING BONUS

The Offer: Up to $400 checking account bonus promotion. Promo Code: OWNIT24 must be used when opening the account. Offer expires December 31, 2024.
Eligibility: Available Nationwide.
- Cannot have been a previous member (owner of a Primary Share account) of Wings Financial Credit Union within 12 months of promotional account application.
- Cannot have previously received a new account bonus.
Step 1: Open a new Wings CU checking account with promo code OWNIT24. Setup recurring DDs within 60 days of account opening. Note: T&Cs state that membership with a “Share Savings” account is required, and the savings account must be opened at the same time as the checking account with a $5 minimum deposit. Complete the following cumulative DDs within 60 days:
- $1500+ in DDs = $150 bonus.
- $3500+ in DDs = $300 bonus.
- $5000+ in DDs = $400 bonus.
- Note from T&Cs: DD must be active on bonus payout date. My interpretation of this is that they do not want members to cancel their DDs before the bonus is posted.
Step 2: Enroll in Wings Digital Banking. Enroll in eDocuments.
Step 3: Complete at least 5 net PIN or signature-based debit card or credit card transactions over $25 each. If all requirements are met, bonus will be paid by 02/21/2025 for accounts opened in November 2024. Account must be in good standing and have a positive balance for the last 30 days (prior to bonus payment).
The Good:
-A $400 bonus tier for a cumulative $5k in DDs.
-Credit card funding allowed. $1,500 per account.
-The “Everyday Checking” account has no MSFs.Â
-Soft Credit pull.
The Bad:
-ChexSystems pull. Unsure how sensitive it is, but many reports of accounts not approved after Chex pull.Â
-Unsure if there is an EATF. I was not able to find it in the Fee Schedules.
-The debit card spending requirement is an extra step that makes this bonus less appealing to some.
Overall: The credit card funding is a great perk. No MSFs and the possibility of a $400 bonus makes this a decent opportunity for those that can get approved and don’t mind completing the debit card transactions. There is also a $200 bonus available for the Savings account, but not worth doing (IMO) due to the large deposit amount required and very low APY offered. Terms for this bonus can also be found in the offer page link below.
